I thought I understood the Gospel of John enough to actually teach something about it. The greatest surprise of putting together this whole course, however, is discovering how very little I know. And yes, not a very convincing way to show you I’m knowledgable enough to teach this course, but stick with me.
Because what I’ve discovered is that intellect, knowledge, and facts are not required to encounter this Gospel. As I’ve gone deeper and deeper into the text I realize now that the Gospel of John is more about meeting Jesus within rather than knowing something about him.
The Gospel is a map of our inner spiritual terrain and it helps us discover our inner Christ. In other words, it illuminates us as we read it.
The Gospel of John Unbound is a living course that begins right here in this moment and expands eternally outwards. May the journey be sweet for you and all of us.
LOGOS by MARY OLIVAR
Why worry about the loaves and fishes? If you say the right words, the wine expands. If you say them with love and the felt ferocity of that love and the felt necessity of that love, the fish explode into many. Imagine him, speaking, and don’t worry about what is reality, or what is plain, or what is mysterious. If you were there, it was all those things. If you can imagine it, it is all those things. Eat, drink, be happy. Accept the miracle. Accept, too, each spoken word spoken with love.
