Who Was Jesus, Really?
Law and Order - yes the TV show - was the first time I ever thought I could be a minister.
I was living at my parents house after college kind of wondering, “Ok, what now…” I had studied marine biology - mostly so my summer internships could be spent on a beach - but that was a little hard to pursue back in Colorado.
I came home one day from the gym and plopped down to see what was on TV. There was a Law and Order episode where a female seminary student was murdered in her dorms in NEW YORK CITY.
I cannot tell you how astounded I was to discover that not only were there seminaries in cool cities but that women could attend them. I had simply just assumed that only Catholic priests could be ministers, a laughable assumption in retrospect.
But later that night I googled “liberal seminary western US” and was moved to tears by the pages of links I saw.
I applied to the Unitarian Universalist seminary in Berkeley, California because the closest I could get to religion at that point was Earth-based Pagan Moon Worshipper and they had the goods. On a whim I also applied to Pacific School of Religion, the sweet little non-denominational Christain seminary right across the street.
When I went to visit, the UU folks were a mess (we all have our bad days) and the Christian folks were clear and strong. Plus Pacific School of Religion was about $20K cheaper and in the same consortium of schools so I could take the same classes for less. It turned out to be a real God Shot, as they say.

Over three years at seminary I gradually fell in love with what I’ll just call the Christ Event, aka Jesus.
I learned how to preach from my heart with the American Baptists and Bishop Yvette Flunder. I learned about the rose-scented Christain mystics and living saints with the Franciscans. I was transformed by the true mystery of the sacraments with the Jesuits. And I got into heated theological debates with those Thomas Aquinas zealots, the Dominicans.
Through it all I came to know the Christ, who incarnated in the man of Jesus, and probably many times before. After seminary I continued to follow this mystery and have since discovered how he heals (he’s full of power!), why he came (to help us see Spirit in the stranger!), and what his crucifixion was all about (death is a door and our spirits go on forever!).
A friend asked me recently if I would call myself a Christian. Yes, and no.
I think often of a verse in John - the wildest, most mystical and powerful gospel - where Jesus more or less says “All these things you shall do and more.” He’s talking there about his healings and miracles and trying to tell the disciples that he’s not special and they better get to work believing that they can do miracles too. Why? Because the world so desperately needs them
So why do I do the work I do? Because this incredible avatar of Christ/Anointed Consciousness whose power and love have spread all over the world has asked us to, has shown us how, and is relying on us to be his hands and feet while he guides us from the astral.
In other words, I don’t necessarily call myself a Christian but I do seek that Christ Consciousness in myself and everyone I meet in service to our collective healing. As my shamanic teachers tell me, “Learn to recognize Spirit in everyone and you’ll help them wake up.”
Waking up to our beauty, power, and indomitable spirit is exactly what Christ intended.
It’s why I continue to seek and find Christ in all my explorations and encounters. It’s why this path never seems to end. Because Spirit-Consciousness is eternity itself. And it’s why I do the work I do. Because it’s been the greatest adventure I could ever want.
My the light of all Christed beings shine forth from your heart as we wake up together and walk the path home.

November Monthly Special - Healing Fear and Grief
They say when you give a healing you get a healing and I certainly need some of that around fear and grief. If this is you too, then the Monthly Special is a great way to get some ‘dealer’s choice’ healing.
In this 30-minute call we’ll look at any current ways fear and grief may be putting mayonnaise in your gas tank, as my teachers say. In other words, how are the energies of fear and grief jamming up your energetic system.
This is also for anyone who may be experiencing kidney or lung issues. While I’m not a medical clinician, the energies of fear and grief can often affect those organs so it can be helpful to clear them up as part of your holistic treatment plan.
This November Monthly Special is available for reciprocity offerings/trades in addition to monetary payment ($50/30 mins). Email me at rev.cindy@clairvoyantcounseling.com to arrange a reciprocity trade.
