Healing and Power are One

It’s been a while since I gushed on my primary partner, Jesus Christ (Don’t worry, my husband knows).

Jesus accomplished a lot in his 3 or 4 short years of ministry. He was a teacher, a healer, a defier, a rapscallion, a delightfully funny avatar, and a truly powerful being. One of his two favorite things to do - the other being constantly eating - was to cast out demons.

Lots of folks think that healing people of posession was the whole thing. Like, Jesus came to cast out demons and ruin a herd of swine, full stop. But what he was really doing was filling himself with so much power that healing was just a natural byproduct for him and anyone around him.

The word used by the Gospel writers to refer to Jesus’ healing power was ‘dynamism’ or dýnamis in Greek.

Dýnamis is used in the scriptures to mean personal power, ability, efficacy, energy, virtue, and powerful deeds. And Jesus was full of this stuff.

He understood that healing is the natural outcome of being topped up with energy and power. And if your power source is Spirit Herself, well now you’re cooking with rocket fuel.

This concept of healing through dynamic power shows up in cultures around the world, and has even finally filtered down to our modern medical system. Studies show that good electron energy flow in the body keeps us healthy and heals all kinds of diseases. Grounding and ‘earthing’ are all the rage and suddenly there are copper rivets in the soles of every shoe.

Power and healing are core components of my upcoming How to Lead Ceremony course. First cohort starts October 14th.

Dýnamis is the same healing principle that Jesus and all the great masters used.

They knew that healing was good and freely offered it to people. But to them, it was simply something that happened along the path to God. How could you not be healed when you’re filled with dynamic sacred energy?

Now in our ableist society I am always mindful to say that ‘healing’ doesn’t necessarily mean 1000% able-bodied, cancer free, neurotypical, and willing to work a 9-5 job. Those are human conceptions of healing. Spirit, and Jesus often have other ideas.

Healing can also mean forgiving the past, accepting grace in the present, and allowing hope another chance at the future.

Or healing might be the decision to stop treatment on a terminal illness, or to put down alcohol and take up clear-headed mornings, or simply to cultivate curiosity about a life that feels painful.

Whatever healing may happen for you, it requires dynamic power. And (buried lede incoming…) the one place in my life that I’ve found ready access to that kind of power is in ceremony.

I’ve experienced it during funerals, prayer circles, medicine ceremonies, weddings (obviously!), baptisms, new and full moon gatherings, you name it. There’s something about ceremony that opens the portals for power. And when those portals are open the healing just happens.

In case you haven’t noticed we’re all in sore need of healing these days, plus a healthy dose of Spirit-sourced power.

So that’s the essence of what I’m teaching in my new course “How to Lead Ceremony.” I want each person who joins us to experience the deep healing that power can bring to your life. I want you to know how to fill yourself with ceremonial spiritual power to be a healing presence for others.

And I want you to lead ceremonies of all kinds with supreme powerful command so we can set right this cosmic ship (Earth!) and sail on through these infinite cosmos of joy and love. Kind of gushy, I know. But I really do believe it and I hope you’ll join me, matey.

In Spirit,

Cindy
