The Open Door Which No One Can Shut

The Open Door: A Blessing for Tyre Nichols from the Book of Revelation

You are the open door which no one can shut

Your name is written in the Book of Life and can never be removed

You hold the seven spirits of God and your life is guided by Her seven stars

Your path is laid out before you to the very end and you are carried along it by all those who love you

You are adored, admired, and desired by God; She longs for you in all that you do and everything you are

You are crowned with kindness, blessing, and delight and your throne is encircled with a rainbow that shines like emeralds

The seraphim surround you

The Lion protects you

The Ox pulls you ever forward

And the Eagle clears your path from above

You are beloved by God, who finds you in the deepest hells, who draws infinitely close to you as you draw close to Her

In you, behold all things made new

Before you are seven gold bowls of purest incense and in your hands the seals of the scrolls of heaven are opened forever

You are the fire that can never be extinguised, the water that flows forever, and the open door that no one can shut

You are free beyond free beyond free

May it be so in all times, and all places, forevermore.

Brief Personal Thoughts

I haven’t found words yet to reflect on all that is wrapped up in the death of Tyre Nichols. I only know that I’ve cried, I’ve witnessed with the sacred withness given to me by Mary Magdalene, and I’ve insisted on hope nevertheless.

I don’t have any grand statement other than that I am humbled by this country I live in; humbled by its brutality, its ferocity, its astounding resilience, its deep fear and hatred, and its profound enduring light.
