The Thieves and The Shepherd

In my 15 months as a nursing home minister I’ve read more of the Bible than I have in 13 years of ministry.

This is not because I’ve suddenly become more devout, committed, or dedicated to the scriptures. But simply because every Wednesday afternoon I teach Bible Study to the holy residents of this sacred home.

So every Wednesday morning I’m frantically reading through the scriptures searching for something relevant to teach on that day. Recently I’ve found a treasure trove of non-cheesy YouTube movies that go through the Gospels verbatim. We read the source material in the Bible then watch 15-20 minutes of the movie.

SPECIAL OFFERS for RETURNING CLIENTS

Part of being an Earth citizen in service to Life is good clean energy; clear thoughts, courageous heart, healthy body in whatever its form and ability.  It’s why I do this work.

Some of you are clairvoyant clients, some have joined my courses and workshops, some have received (and given!) healings.  However we’ve met, I know you're committed to Life itself and I want to support you in the ways I'm trained to do.

To that end, I’m offering returning clients discounted healing sessions through August 31st.

  • 55-minute sessions are $135 (normally $165)

  • 30-minute sessions are $65 (normally $85)

  • No limit on uses

If you’re a returning client or student email me at rev.cindy@clairvoyantcounseling.com for links to book your session.

Me and the residents are cranking through the wild, metaphysically lush Gospel of John right now and it couldn’t be more perfectly timed.

This Gospel is mostly about Jesus’s dangerously popular preaching against corrupt religious leaders who are backed by the Roman empire (sound familiar?!) and liberating people from their captivity to fear and limitation. It’s a spicy read for sure.

The most commonly quoted scripture is, of course, John 3:16, about God giving Her only son so the world might be saved. The true meaning is about God’s incredible life-giving generosity of Self and coming to be with us as a human in our very human struggles.

But it’s usually flattened to mean something like, “You sinful humans better be grateful and guilty for all God has done for you.” It’s useful theology for keeping people trapped in always feeling like they’re not enough.

I’m more of a John 10:10 gal where Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” You can be sure he’s comparing himself and the Pharisees here, something which they appreciate not at all. Does Jesus care about that though? Hell no.

Jesus continues to rile the Pharisees all the way to his death, and honestly, far beyond.

As I’ve watched the world order of a corrupt religious class backed by the most brutal empire ever to exist come crumbiling down in spectacular fashion, I’ve continued to return to this luminous scripture and the writings of John.

I have seen thieves aplenty who steal, kill, and destroy life in all its forms.

And yet, I have also seen life flourishing to the full.

I have seen frightened people singing outside ICE detention centers. I have seen strangers diving into police lines to pull out other strangers being beaten by cops. I have seen ambulance drivers go back again and again into the carnage of Gaza to give their lives rescuing children. I have seen my friends continue to reach out to their families lost in the QAnon abyss.

I have seen prayers go up and blessings come down around sacred midnight fires tended by the first peoples of Turtle Island. I have seen indigenous lands and lineages protected by the first female president of a country awash in machismo and patriarchy. I have seen miraculous healings, people liberated, and life restored to the full.

I have seen the Christed One at work in the world, alive within others, and alive in my heart despite it all. Keep praying dear friends, for life to the full is the eternal promise of God Herself and we will surely create it together.
