Sing for Your Life!

Like many people, I used to believe a story that I couldn’t sing.

Of course I would sing in the shower or my car, or at a loud concert. But never around other people. I just knew didn’t have a good voice; definitely not the kind other people would want to hear.

Then in 2017 I got strep 5 times in one year. I tried everything to heal it; tea tree oil, salt gargles, neti pots galore, and even (dun, dun, DUN) antibiotics twice. All to no avail. The strep kept returning.

At the beginning of 2018 I had the great fortune of sitting with a spiritual healer and asked him to help me with this strep problem.

He said I had a story in my head telling me that I was most persuasive when speaking, but to consider that singing might work better.

So, in case you weren’t aware, I’m a preacher. Which means of course I want to be persuasive! I’m not just up there at the pulpit speaking for my own pleasure, thought it is supremely fun. I preach because I want to persuade you of my theological ideas; primarily that grace is essential, forgiveness is pre-approved, and God loves you so much you would die for joy if you ever knew.

Thus when this healer told me I could be more persuasive by singing, it got me started on a path. Like, a really big path.

Want to sing but feel blocked, scared, or unworthy? Book a Clairvoyant Counseling session to help liberate your voice.

To start I learned a simple spiritual songs and two months later sang in public for the first time.

I have literally never sweat so much three minutes. My voice wavered with every heartbeat. I felt intensely vulnerable…and then it was over.

I could sing! Of course it helped that I was singing in a circle where each song was an offering for Spirit, instead of a performance. And that the room was dark and candle-lit. But I could sing nonetheless.

Since then I’ve learned maybe hundreds of spiritual songs by heart.

I’ve been sung to by friends and healers. I’ve sung along with my friends and healers. And joy of all joys, I sing to many of my clients because who doesn’t need a sweet song just for them.

I’ve studied with four or five vocal coaches, all of whom sing their own songs just for the pure power of singing. I’ve had so much fun being a student (duh) and giving myself permission to be a beginner.

I’ve learned how to breath while singing, how to use my facial muscles for bright beautiful sound, and how to sing from my heart for the deepest medicine of all. I’ve learned how to pick up melodies from the cosmos, the forests, the ocean, and living beings of all kinds.

I realized somewhere along the way that singing is THE KEY to a powerful life.

When I sing, I feel more spontaneous, more able to respond to the opportunities of the moment. Singing clears my mind and removes the obstacles on my spiritual path.

Singing keeps my heart light, a real necessity for a very serious scholar like me. I sing with my husband, with my clients, with my friends and I feel our hearts begin to open up and see each other more clearly.

Singing has directly protected me from harm, danger, car accidents, and bad luck of all kinds. I am not joking at all.

Singing has connected me with people all over the world, and continues to bring me astounding medicine for healing of all kinds. Including, of course, from strep throat.

You see, after I began singing, not only was I more theologically persuasive (I hope!) but I’ve never had strep throat again. So how do you get in on this incredible offer from Spirit?! Keep reading to find out.
