Hello from a Mushroom Minister

Big news in Colorado; Prop 122 passed which more or less decriminalizes psychedelic mushrooms for personal and especially therapeutic use. So this is my official self-outing as a Mushroom Minister. What does that mean, exactly? Well, I’m glad you asked because it really means a lot to me.

It means that there are now safe and legal pathways for me to work with spiritual counseling clients and psychedelic mushrooms at the same time. As a Christian minister this matters sooooo much to me.

In my counseling work I’ve seen that people’s experience with mushrooms has a lot of the same teachings Jesus does; connection to Oneness, being flooded with grace, feeling the power of the present moment (read; the Kin-dom of God), forgiveness, healing, and so much more.

And of course, you don’t have to be Christian to benefit from psychedelic mushrooms. Many of my clients bring their own diverse spiritualities into our sessions where we work together with plant and animal allies, the energy of the earth and stars, medicine songs and healing through prayer, our own higher selves, and Spirit in all ways.

In the coming months I’ll be setting up a public practice in accordance with Colorado law but for now I want to offer my consulting services to anyone who may be interested in working with mushrooms for spiritual health and healing.

This includes folks who want to explore the spiritual side of microdosing, regular use of small workable amounts, facilitated mushroom ceremonies, or even support for a heroic dose, as Terrence McKenna calls it.

Facilitated spiritual use of mushrooms, like I hope to provide, has been known to support recovery from PTSD, anxiety, depression, addictions of various kinds, and other mental health challenges.

Of course, these issues always benefit from concurrent work with a licensed psychologist and yet we know intuitively that these are deeply spiritual issues that need deep spiritual support. That’s where I come in; or rather, the mushrooms that I simply facilitate your relationship with.

Mushrooms and their spiritual wisdom are foundational to my spiritual counseling practice. Like so many others, I believe deeply in their healing capacity and have seen miracles when people use them. Psychedelics aren’t a cure-all, quick fix, or even necessarily the only healing work you need. But supported psychedelic exploration is one path that can really help.

I’m so grateful to the people who voted for this medicine to be made more legal. It’s not the end of the battle as there are still concerns about indigenous, traditional, non-western-medical use of these sacred medicines. Still, I think this really helps momentum towards full deregulation, as well as helping people who are suffering right now and can’t wait for the perfect legislation to be passed.

May this medicine, whatever practitioner or healer you decide to work with, truly bless you, heal you, and bring you closer than ever to the bright heart of Spirit.
