Humor is a Load Bearing Structure
Servidoras on the Camino de Santiago
The first thing I ever learned in my psychic training was to stay amused.
This is exactly the opposite of how I usually like to approach the world. It’s very serious business to be a minister, after all. There’s so many people’s pain to be faced, so many cultural traumas to unwind, and so many prayers to say. No time for fun!
So when I heard that one of the most important qualities of a good healer - let alone a good psychic - is amusement, well I had my doubts.
But over the years I’ve come to see the value and the power of amusement.
First of all, amusement isn’t what I thought it was. Before working with amusement as a healing tool, I brushed it off as silly and weak. Or I thought amusement meant like, just a little joke usually at someone else’s expense.
However some of the best healing and pastoral care sessions I’ve had are full of laughter. Not because someone’s pain and wounds are funny, but because by using the power of amusement I can help people see that the pickle they’re in is actually part of the Great Cosmic Joke (punchline: nothing was ever lost and we were all together the whole time).
When we can see ourselves from the light hearted (as in a heart filled with light) perspective of Spirit, we have room to be amused.
And what happens when amusement enters a healing?
Lifelong problems transform instantly. Your grandmothers’ grandmothers suffering is redeemed at last. Regret becomes gratitude and anger has a little chuckle at itself and lets go of all the energy it’s bogarting. People start to grow and take quantum leaps that have evaded them for lifetimes.
In fact, the sign of an enlightened master is usually that they’re very funny. At least the ones that I know. Yogananda was known to tell jokes he thought were so funny that he would be laughing too hard to say the punchline. Jesus was a pun master extraordinaire.
The Hotei Buddha insisted that laughter was the primary method for cleansing the spirit in preparation for enlightenment. The 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna saw himself as a divine child who delighted in making fun of himself.
Personally, I know I’ve made it through a hard experience when I’m finally able to laugh at myself.
Sometimes it takes years to get to that point (plus a lot of help from my own healers and ministers) but so far amusement is the dead giveaway that I’ve come through the storm.
When I’m working with clients I use amusement as a lens through which to see. Even when someone is in the middle of sharing their pains and challenges I always keep an eye out for the little wink from Spirit; the sparkle of amusement that tells me “This is where the healing will happen.”
ENJOY THE AFTERGLOW!
New offering for past clients; The Afterglow! This is for you whether we've only worked together once or have had many sessions over the years.
Each month I'll share a teaching and simple practice related to the theme everyone is working with. The best of this work that I get to see is that each one of you is often working on similar issues to my other clients.
The monthly Afterglow is a short blog post with helpful information and a simple practice designed to address what you’re all working on. Some months I'll add a video or audio recording, and as I come across good resources I'll post those too.
I've called this offering the "Afterglow" in the hopes that you keep on glowing and growing well beyond our work together.
March is “Uprooting Fear” and will be out on Friday March 6th. Enjoy!
Amusment wielded with skill is truly a load bearing structure.
As I’ve discovered while doing all kinds of readings and healings, amusement can do work. It resolves all kinds of hurts while building a new foundation of resilience.
It shortens the distance between people and binds them together with the strongest braids of trust and faith. It opens hearts that have been closed for years and restores us all to innocence and freedom.
May you find some amusement within yourself today. May your mind and heart be light with humor. And may you remain strong and resilient through this most excellent healing tool.
In Spirit,
Cindy
Book a Clairvoyant Counseling Session
Great for bringing some healing amusement into life’s challenges.
Here’s the step-by-step once you book:
Call me on the psychic hotline (aka. the number provided at booking) from a quiet place
We start with a guided meditation to bring you into a pristine energetic space for the reading and healing
You say your name three times to help me locate you in the spiritual realm
We begin!
From there we cover all kinds of subjects:
Family beliefs contributing to ongoing health issues
Painful relationships that are stuck in a rut
Self-sabotage that takes 100 different forms
The exact reasons why your dreams aren’t launching the way you thought. Hint hint; it’s usually a limiting belief in your personal power space that we can be amused about ;)
I’ll always be clear about when I’m reading your energy, when I’m offering my professional opinion, when I’m giving personal advice (exteremely rare! I’m not trying to create karma with you), and when I’m just sending you love and validation for a hard situation.
We finish with a healing and some practical homework and off you go; bright, shiny, and new.
