A Love Letter from My Past Self

Ever gone back and read your journals?

I generally avoid it because a) it can be a little cringy b) it’s mostly stuff that’s no longer relevant or c) it’s issues I’m still working on and I’m dismayed there hasn’t been more progress. That, and my handwriting isn’t great so it’s usually a tough exercise in deciphering scribbles.

But I discovered some real gems when I was rereading my journals from 5 years ago in preparation for How to Lead Ceremony. Side note, you woudn’t believe all the goodies I found to cram into the course. If you’re already enrolled, there is a veritable buffet of knowledge headed your way.

Five years ago I was a jaded hospice chaplain, my community was crumbling around me while the new one was still in its infancy, and the man I was in love with was SOsososo unavailable, as was I honestly.

And I was journaling about it a lot. I wrote endless notes from Carolyn Myss books on forgiveness, pages of 12-step work, dream logs galore, and like, no less than 37 manifestation lists of what I wanted in my life but currently didn’t have.

There’s enough material in there for three more courses on forgiveness alone but what really caught my eye was how much I was actually studying myself. At the time I was trying to write myself out of a Tower card experience but looking back I can see I was doing some deep digging into the inner workings of 2019 Cindy and beginning the loving transformation into 2024 Cindy.

Need some help with that timeline jump to your future self? That’s my specialty so book a Clairvoyant Counseling call and let’s clear up anything that would keep you trapped in the past.

Since that time, I’ve changed quite a bit.

I started this business. I forgave just about everything that was keeping me hostage to resentment. I married that wonderful man in perfect timing. And I’m still sober and more intimate with Spirit than ever before.

My favorite part of that whole journal was a list of things I wanted in all my relationships but at that time had in very few (you know who you are God bless you forever you saved my ass from my own self amen!).

It’s a list if things I now have in abundance from just about every relationship. I’ve been calling it my love letter to myself. So here it is:

  • We fully relax with each other

  • We feel fully safe with each other

  • We trust deeply together

  • We are always ourselves

  • We teach each other from further down the path

  • We are fully vulnerable as we show each other our growth spots

  • We are attracted to what the other can teach us

  • We put our best offers on the table

  • We go all in and are available for full relationships now

  • We show each other every day that we are committed to staying

  • We each have the feeling of deep wonder, satisfaction, awe, and gratitude when we’re together

  • We are each deeply adored by the other

  • We laugh and have fun every day

I wrote that list imagining a romantic partner but it amazingly applies to every close relationship I’m in today (again, you know who you are).

So the major insight I have to share is simply that The Work works, if you work it. My memories of that time are painful and I mostly feel relief that I’m not there anymore plus everything actually turned out to be divine timing of the highest order.

But I can also see that I did everything I could to participate in that divine timing by preparing my own spirit and healing my personality to be ready for the person I became. And that’s my encouragement to you today; if you’re still in the becoming process and things seem murky as hell, keep working it.

Not only could you end up manifesting a powerful unstoppable self with all your dreams come true, but you just might end up with notebooks full of great material for teaching the world how to thrive and grow.

As a perennial student always in search of the next great teaching, that’s my hope for us both. I’ll meet you there.

In Spirit,

Rev. Cindy
