Three Paths to Effortless Healing
Most people, me included, start a healing journey because we are not well.
Now this seems obvious to say but it has deep implications. Years ago, as I began my climb out of alcoholism, judgmentaholism, resentaholism, and extreme confusion about the purpose of life (I thought it was for forcing my will upon others) I was very sick in many ways.
There were months - years even - during the first part of my healing path when shit was just so heavy. The insights and realizations I had about myself and others were brutal. Like, oh my God I really thought I could treat someone like that and it wouldn’t matter. Or, I really thought I could avoid that hard truth and it wouldn’t come back to haunt me.
But over time and with the help of great teachers and healers* the heaviness began to lift.
Little by slowly I discovered that the path to being well requires that, at a certain point, I actually start to act as if I’m well. I didn’t want to do this at first. Like many others, my various spiritual maladies were giving me something that felt valuable (mostly victimhood and martyrdom) and I was a little hesitant to give those up.
Why? Because it would mean I’d have to finally take full responsibility for my life and everything in it, even/especially the terrible stuff and the harm I’d done. At a certain point though, the path would let me go no further until I did.
MODULE TWO OF HOW TO BE A HEALER: GETTING RIGHT SIZED
Who is actually doing the healing
Allying with other forces and spirits
Getting clear on motivations for healing
The ego temptations of being a healer
Clients, healees, and determining who you work with
Developing shamanic certainty and vision in your healings
*Teachings are based on a blend of gnostic and mystical Christianity, the Christ consciousness teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda who has his lineage from Babaji Krishna, the clairvoyant trainings and teachings of the Boulder Psychic Institute, and healing techniques from direct lineage teachers in the NAC tradition, the Wixarika tradition, and the Shipibo tradition.
This is the fear-meets-faith moment in any healing path, and with encouragement I took the leap.
Through the amends process in my 12-step programs I cleaned up my self-created wreckage of my past. I changed the way I cared for my body. I stopped enforcing my will quite so often and explored the novel concept of surrender, or ‘going with the flow’ in laymen’s terms.
And I began to learn from some truly incredible healers. Now, I could write a whole novel about the ins and outs of my healing journey; all the insights, physical and emotional healings, spiritual revelations, power and purpose, and all the wild twists and turns that have come on this gracious knife-edge path.
But today I want to offer you my top three most effective healing practices.
As I’m sure you’re aware, I’m teaching a new course called The Foundations of How to be a Healer, and we’ll cover all these and more in depth. So to whet your appetite here’s my hand-picked sampler platter of healing techniques anyone can use today.
One: Ignore the story, listen only for the truth.
Most people have a story about what they think is going on. I’ve had many stories in my day of which I was utterly convinced. This is the story built by the ego to defend itself and it’s self-centered purposes. And this story is often very convincing, even to me as a healer. And yet you can tell it’s an ego story because it’s always got some element of limitation or victimhood in it. They did this to me! She deprived me of that! I can’t do that because….
Now on the incarnational, 3D reality level, these stories are true...to a certain extent. The trick as a healer is to set the story aside like a book you’re not going to buy in the book store even though the cover was interesting, and then listen for the spiritual truth.
And what is that truth? It will sound something like, I am free and I can do what I came here to do. We’ll cover all the techniques for this in the How to be a Healer Course.
Two: Stay Amused
This is probably one of the most important teachings of the folks over at the Boulder Psychic Institue. When I first started studying with them back in 2020 it was soooooo obnoxious. Those people wouldn’t take anything seriously! They chuckeld and giggled and laughed all the damn time. But I’ve come to see the wisdom in combining amusement and healing.
Amusement says, “This too shall pass and if you wait long enough you’ll see the great cosmic humor in this little pickle you seem to be in.” Amusement itself is also an energetic branch on the tree of joy and joy is a healer par excellence.
Amusement keeps things light and loose, it liberates the ties that bind, and reminds us that Earth School is a big fat game of Spiritual Hide and Seek.
You can bet your butts I’ll be spending a lot of time in the course talking about how to bring wise amusement into every healing.
Three: See with the eyes of Spirit
When we look at each person who has come to us for healing, companionship, or help of any kind, we bless them enormously when we see them with the eyes of Spirit. In other words, this means seeing them with the unconditionally loving eyes of Divine Mother and Holy Father. And when you’re looking at a soul who’s lived thousands of life times, that ‘unconditionally’ part can be quite a challenge.
Nevertheless, my Spirit Goggles as I call them, have done more healing work along the way than anything else. When I see clients, myself, everyone with Spirit Eyes I simply enjoy their being. Like, really enjoy them and delight in them and see their struggles and see myself in them and remember that we are all healing together.
So there you have it! We’ll explore practical methods to use these three magnificent healing techniques in the Course, plus much more. I’ll see you there, fellow healer.
